It was only later in high school that we learned about Type 1 diabetes. This type of "D" can still be cured, according to Nick's physician, as long as the
glucose level in the body is maintained. Back then, the Biology teacher used to call Nick out in the front to lecture about the importance of insulin in the body. We would yawn, of course, but it would be another ten minutes before Nick shocked the whole class. He had later developed Type 2 diabetes, and now we see him in sunbathing in his lawn, strapped in his wheelchair.
